Hypoallergenic: Yes
Origin: China, Tibet

Size

Adult Shih Tzus are usually 9–11 inches tall and weigh 9–16 pounds. They should look slightly longer than they are tall, with their tail curved over their back.

Appearance

Shih Tzus have long, dense outer coats that can be straight or wavy, and soft, woolly undercoats. They also have a fringe that grows over their eyes, which can lead to a top knot style. Shih Tzus come in a variety of colors, including solids like black, white, and gold, as well as bicolor mixes

Grooming

Shih Tzus require extra grooming due to their luxurious coats, but they don't shed as much as their long hair might suggest. They should be brushed out 2–3 times a week, and bathed every 1–2 weeks. It's best to lightly mist their coat with a hydrating spray before brushing it.

Lifespan

Shih Tzus typically live for 10–16 years, with an average age of about 13 years. The world's oldest Shih Tzu lived to be 23 years old
